Ward & Sons 12 Bore Improved Filler, Turnover & Re Capper Machine, 1745, 4806

Description

This well made brass 12 bore loading and turnover "machine" was retailed by Ward & Sons. The identical configurations are found in the 1905 Charles Osborne & Co. Ltd. catalog, loading and turnover machines, page 74 as well as the 1894 Hughes & Sons catalog, breech loading cartridge loaders, page 43. It is in excellent condition, with all adjustments crisp. Both Ebony handles and brass collars are tight.
A bit of history regarding Ward & Sons. They were located in Birmingham and were active from 1859 to 1935. Their identifying logo was a "Target", which can clearly be seen in photo 4 of the listing.
