‘I’m a skin expert – adding a $2 product to my perfume will make it last all day’

A skin expert took to social media to share with the world her simple and affordable method to get perfume to last longer.
Rashida, who goes by the Instagram handle @skinthusiast_pa, filmed herself demonstrating how the everyday drug store product locked in her scent.
“Do you feel like your perfume just doesn’t last?” Medical and Aesthetic Derm PA asked. “This hack is about to be your best friend. Say hellooo to Vaseline.”
Using a $2 tube of Vaseline petroleum jelly – a product trusted even by reality TV star Kim Kardashian – she applied a bit to the inner sides of her wrists and the nape of her neck.
“Apply a thin layer of Vaseline to your pulse points before spritzing your favorite perfume,” she said.

Following the application of her perfume to those same areas, Rashida was prepared and committed for the day ahead.
She elaborated that the technique was supported by science, attributing it to Vaseline’s occlusive characteristics.
“When applied to the skin, it forms a thin barrier that seals in moisture and prevents water loss through evaporation,” the skin enthusiast added.
“The same barrier applies to fragrance molecules.”
Without Vaseline, fragrance molecules typically evaporate more quickly, causing the scent to fade over time.
“When Vaseline is applied beforehand, it helps slow down the evaporation process,” Rashida explained.
The jelly aids in capturing the fragrance molecules, thereby inhibiting their evaporation.
“As a result, the fragrance molecules stay concentrated on the skin for a longer period of time, prolonging the scent’s duration,” she added.
“Say goodbye to constant touch-ups and hello to a fragrance that’ll last from morning to night, who doesn’t want that?”
